On June 21, 2026, Seeds of Mercy Outreach International, in partnership with our local church partners, had the privilege of serving more than 50 children in the coastal community of Barangay Mongolbongol, Daram, Samar, Philippines.
Together, we prepared and served a warm, nutritious Filipino meal consisting of steamed rice, chicken with vegetables, and refreshing orange juice. While the meal itself was simple, its impact was profound. For many children, it represented not only nourishment but also hope, love, and the reminder that they are valued and cared for.
Seeing the smiles on the children's faces reminded us that even one meal can make a meaningful difference in a child's life.
Understanding the Community's Challenges
Daram is an island municipality where many families depend primarily on small-scale fishing and farming for their livelihood.
Although these occupations provide the main source of income, they are highly dependent on weather conditions. During storms, rough seas, or poor harvest seasons, many parents struggle to earn enough to provide consistent, nutritious meals for their children. As a result, children are often among the most affected, facing food insecurity and limited access to balanced nutrition.
Recognizing these ongoing challenges, Seeds of Mercy Outreach International remains committed to supporting vulnerable families through community-based feeding initiatives that promote health, dignity, and hope.
